Thromboxan
Throm|b|o|xan [↑ Thromb- u. ↑ Oxan], das; -s -e; Abk.: TX: Sammelbez. für körpereigene, ungesättigte u. durch Hydroxygruppen substituierte Prostansäure-Derivate mit einem Tetrahydropyranring. Sie entstehen biogenetisch aus Arachidonsäure über eine gemeinsame Vorstufe für T., Prostacycline u. Prostaglandine. Im Organismus sind T. (insbes. TXA2) verantwortlich für Thrombozytenaggregation u. Gefäßverengerung; Gegenspieler der T. ist das Prostacyclin.
